Wonderful Mexican food! Great atmosphere & music. A bonus is the cashier is always nice & ready to answer any questions we have! I have been here multiple times & love it everytime!

Finally made it to Tacos El Gallo! As with every place on Southwest Boulevard, street parking can get a bit competitive at busy times, but I was able to grab an angle parking spot right outside. Once inside, head around the corner to the counter to order. You pick up your tacos at the bar right inside the door. Don't forget to swing by the salsa bar for toppings and salsas! Fair warning, the avocado salsa is quite spicy so consider not drenching your tacos in it before you taste it! The salsa diabla that comes with the Birria tacos absolutely set fire to my mouth, so fair warning to those who don't like spicy food! The street tacos I tried (carne asada & pastor) were delicious! The birria tacos were tasty but not my favorite birria tacos in Kansas City. The tortillas got soggy very quickly, so eat quick. The service was quick and kind on a busy weekend night! Great vibes inside with plenty of seating inside and outside!

I love the food here and the price is good! I have never ordered a bad taco, I also haven't gone home with left overs.

We had some work complications that put dinner really late for us on a Saturday night. Mexican food was calling to us and wifey found this spot online. Looked good so we figured, 'why not?". The place was busy, but not overcrowded. Things looked clean and the smells were hypnotizing. Gotta keep this spot in mind for future KC trips! The Birria fries were solid. I am asada fries fan in general, but she was in charge of the order and these were great. She got me an Asada burrito and it was perfect. Carnitas quesadilla for her and she put a roja on it that was spicy enough without murdering her face. Some people had plastic cups for their salsa. We couldn't figure out where those were - LOL. Cold bottles of Jarritos in the refrigerator case topped this off for us. They had most of the current flavors instead of just the 3 or 4 you get at a lot of places.

They have a large menu and a little convenience shop with lots of foods and other items to purchase. It's not fancy but the food is authentic and cooked fresh. The service was great.

YUM!! In town for work and wanted something familiar and comforting and these birria tacos are perfect!! The portions are just right and everything arrived via Grubhub fresh and hot!!

I have a sentimental connection with this location-- my father was an acquaintance to the owners and he would bring hotel guests when they asked for authentic Mexican tacos. I also got to experience the flavor and great service prior to his passing. On another note, there are indoor and outside seating choices. There are plenty of other authentic items to purchase and different food items; we always opt for carne asada & al pastor tacos with cheesy fries (queso is thick & tasty). Salsa bar offers great spicy and non-spicy salsas. I like the mural and open space update. RR does need a little attention.
